BC Cancer Foundation
Our speaker on February 18th was Andrea Coogan, Development Officer - Fraser Valley Centre, BC Cancer Foundation. She spoke about the work of the agency and the profile of the charity.
The BC Cancer Foundation is the fundraising partner of the BC Cancer Agency and the largest charitable funder of cancer research in this province. They state that they enable donors to make contributions to leading-edge research that has a direct impact on improvements to cancer care for patients in British Columbia.
The BC Cancer Agency states that they excel at translating exciting discoveries from the researcher’s bench to the patient’s bedside.
The BC Cancer Agency provides a province-wide cancer control program for everyone in British Columbia and Yukon. It delivers the full spectrum of cancer care including prevention, early detection, diagnosis and treatment, research, education, supportive and palliative care.
Their offices are in each of the BC Cancer Agency’s five regional centres: Abbotsford, Fraser Valley (Surrey), Southern Interior (Kelowna), Vancouver and Vancouver Island (Victoria).
Ms. Coogan invited the members of the Rotary Club of Ladner to tour the Fraser Valley Centre.
