“Trello” is an online workspace for teams. “Meetup” is a global platform that helps introduce people to new people as well as organizations. Together these two systems expand our capacity to perform beyond the scope of ClubRunner, which continues to be valuable for administration and communication.
Presenter Peter Roaf recently completed a term as Interim Public Image Chair for Rotary District 5040 and is now Assistant Governor for Rotary clubs in Richmond and Delta. He spoke about Trello and Meetup as systems to enable clubs to act on two of the four strategic priorities of Rotary's Action Plan: expand our reach and increase our ability to adapt, beyond the scope of the communication and administration system of ClubRunner. The District Public Image Committee will be offering these systems to clubs in the coming weeks and months as it launches its consulting services.
Trello is an online workspace for teams. It is a visual work management tool that empowers teams to create ideas, plan, manage, and celebrate their work together in a collaborative, productive, and organized way.
Trello is intuitive and makes it easy for a team to keep things organized and get its work done. Files and links for current projects, large or small, can be accessed by team members and archives can be kept from one year to the next.
Each District 5040 club or committee could develop its own “Workspace”. Within that Workspace, it could set up a "Board" for each of its committees or sub-committees for separate tasks/projects.
Rotarian John Chan, of the District 5040 Public Image Committee provides this video demonstration of how Trello might work for a team organizing an event.
Meetup is a global platform that helps introduce people to new people as well as organizations. Meetup is a platform for finding and building local communities. People use Meetup to meet new people, learn new things, find support, get out of their comfort zones, and pursue their passions, together.
Meetup is a great opportunity for Rotary in that it can introduce new potential members to the Rotary Community where Rotary’s interests intersect with theirs. It is also a platform Rotary clubs and District committees can use to promote events both internally and externally to other clubs and the community.
The District Public Image Committee will be introducing both these systems to clubs in the near future.
