Past President of the Rotary Club of Ladner in 1992-93 and long time club member Barry Irvine passed away on July 15, 2025.  He was born in 1939, two weeks before his wife Margaret, and died three days before her.

Barry was active in a variety of projects, including the Delta Community Foundation, which Ladner Rotary founded in 1986, and he served as President and Board Chairman. He is described by a fellow Ladner Rotarian as a creative, visionary fundraiser and leader who played a key role in building capital for the Foundation.

He was a professional engineer who worked for a bridge building company. Eventually  he served many years as President of Tilbury Cement in Delta's Tilbury Industrial Park. That company became Lehigh Heidelberg which owned Construction Aggregates which partnered with the Sechelt First Nation to mine the gravel and sand above Sechelt  

Service was a core value Barry's life. In addition to Ladner Rotary and the Delta Community Foundation he served as member and leader of various clubs and organizations.

He was an adventurer who enjoyed flying planes, operating the family boat, riding a motorcycle, and driving his and Margaret's motorhome to many destinations.

Barry and Margaret are survived by daughters Laurie, Chris and Karen, plus seven grandchildren and by brothers and sisters.
