The Rotary Club of Ladner welcomed its first non-profit "corporate member" on April 1,2025: the Delta Community Foundation (DFC). It was a proud moment for both organizations as Ladner Rotary established the DFC in 1986. For many years the DFC was separate from, but linked to, the DFC. Four years ago the Foundation became an independent community organization. The DFC serves as Delta's charity for charities. It provides funds for community initiatives, charities and non-profit organizations in mental health, education, arts, culture & heritage, children & youth, environment, food security, Indigenous initiatives, neighborhoods, seniors and more.
In the photo, Vancouver Food Runners is a recent DFC grant recipient to scale up its food recovery program in Delta, having achieved over 140 food rescues in Delta and Tsawwassen of over 42,000 pounds and an in-kind value of $150,000 as Delta farms and businesses donate surplus, fresh food for those who need it most in Delta.
The Delta Community Foundation supports causes that impact the entire community, not just a special area. It is designed for perpetual giving so donations can contribute forever and it allows donors to direct funds to the causes they care deeply about. Over the long term, grants and community engagement efforts contribute to the cultivation of a more compassionate and caring community.
