On a winter vacation in the Zihuatanejo-Ixtapa, Mexico, earlier this month Ladner Rotarian Denis Denischuk came upon a prominent boulevard sign with the Rotary Wheel, with place and time of the local club meetings (seen in photo). By wondering around the commercial district of Ixtapa Denis found the club's own air-conditioned meeting room. Of the 13 members in the club, six were on hand at the evening meeting to greet him warmly, some in English and some in Spanish. No dinner was served, just some savoury snacks, water or white wine.

The guest speaker was from LEAP GLOBAL MISSIONS to give an update the on the arrival of a surgical team of doctors and nurses from Texas,  arriving the next day to setup an operating room clinic (the community does not have a full-service hospital) to preform reconstructive surgery on children with microtia, an outer ear deformity from outside the community, in remote villages. The club was preparing to deliver computers donated by a Rotary Club in California to a local elementary school.
