District Governor Garry Shearer made his official visit to the Rotary Club of Ladner on October 1st.

DG Garry is a charter member of the  Rotary Club of Tsawwassen – founded in 1992 and sponsored by the Rotary Club of Ladner. Garry has served on a variety of committees in Rotary, both at club and District levels. During that time, he has been active with Foundation, Community Service and more recently, as GSE and VVT teams chair for the District.

Garry spoke about this year’s Rotary theme “Engage Rotary – Change Lives”.  He talked about a significant moment in his Rotary experience of attending the International Assembly in San Diego where Governor Elects are trained. He was moved when the Japanese and American flags were paraded in the ball room. He felt that is was a sign of peace and understanding.

DG Garry spoke about the importance of The Rotary Foundation. He praised the Rotary Club of Ladner for the strong support for our Foundation. He stressed the need for every Rotarian to donate to the Foundation. For some this is a small donation for others it is a large gift.

He extended an invitation to everyone to attend the District Conference in Squamish May 23-25 2014.

He ended by serenading the members of the club.
