DSS Interact Club Member Speaks at Rotary Peace Forum

Rachel Hislop-Hook is a grade 10 student at Delta Secondary School and a member of the school's Rotary Interact Club. She is very passionate about making a positive difference in the world and has big dreams for her future.

She joins a panel of speakers on ways to combat juvenile bullying. Also on the panel are Patti Bacchus, Chair of the Vancouver School Board, Rotarian and Phycologist Denis Boyd and panel moderator DGND John Anderson, former superintendent of schools in Delta.

Currently, Rachel is volunteering with children with disabilities and also volunteers as a math tutor. She receives fulfilment from helping others and bringing them happiness.

Rachel is also a very devoted to school and spends most of her time working towards achieving high grades. Rachel enjoys school and has a passion for learning new things. She aspires to get into medical school and become a Pediatrician. She feels that this career would allow her to help others and would bring her joy and fulfilment. One day, she would like to go on a mission and use her medical abilities to aid people in different countries. Doctors Without Borders is a something she commonly thinks about for her future.

In her spare time, Rachel enjoys painting, going for long runs, and spending time with her friends and family.

Rachel has an optimistic attitude and has a very positive outlook on life. She is grateful for everyday and tries to use each day to bring happiness to others. She is excited about her future and hopes to change people’s lives in a positive way.
