Employer benefits in hiring those with developmental disabilities

Representatives of the BC Self Advocacy Foundation, founded in 1985, speak on the advantages for employers, employees and communities of inclusive employment which includes the hiring of individuals who are receiving government assistance.
 
The BC Self Advocacy Foundation is a charitable organization whose sole purpose is to assist people with developmental disabilities to become full, participating citizens in their own communities.

The BC-Self Advocacy Foundation's Vision is a future where the voices of people with developmental disabilities are heard and respected. The Foundation believes that:
  • people with disabilities have the right to control their own lives and make their own decisions;
  • families, friends and advisors have a role in supporting self advocacy.
 
The work of the Foundation is supported through provincial government grants, fundraising efforts and donations from individuals.
