Nutritious food is continuing to cost more and more to produce and to buy, putting it further beyond the reach of some families in Delta. The Ladner Rotary Shred A Thon on Saturday, September 27th will devote all of its net proceeds to the South Delta Food Bank plus its food pantry for high school students on weekends and families at Christmas who are in need.
The September 27th Shred A Thon will be open from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on the property behind Eastlink (Delta Cable) at 5381 Ladner Trunk Road in Ladner.
Any individual, company or organization can bring their old tax returns, credit card bills, business records, bank statements, and personal information documents so a shredding company can safely and securely shred the paper on the spot.
“The generosity of Delta residents and business owners participating in our shredding events has been so amazing,” says Ladner Rotary President Brian Coe. “Our club has been able to pass along thousands of dollars in net proceeds to those who live and work among us and need it the most. Since Delta is a farming centre, particularly Ladner, it seems fitting that food security is a priority for Ladner Rotary.”
A donation of $15 per banker’s box of paper dropped off for secure shredding on the spot in Ladner site will help with food security for those who need a hand up.
