Over one million Canadians could be accessing food charity programs for the first time in 2024, according to Second Harvest’s annual “Hungry for Change” national study. As of late February more than one-third of those programs were already reporting they have had to turn people away.

Food for the Rotary-sponsored pantry program at Delta Secondary School, for students of families who need a hand up over weekends, and food for the South Delta Food Bank are the two causes which the Rotary Club of Ladner Shred A Thon on Saturday, April 13, 2024 will support. The Shred A Thon on April 13th will be open from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on the property behind Eastlink (Delta Cable) at 5381 Ladner Trunk Road in Ladner.

Any individual, company or organization can bring their old tax returns, credit card bills, business records, bank statements, and personal information documents so a shredding company can safely and securely shred the paper on the spot. A donation of $15 per banker’s box of paper will support the high school food pantry and the community food bank.

This event is sponsored by Ladner companies, Ideal Door Ltd. and Millenium Pacific greenhouse.
