Glyn Abraham - Classification Talk

Glyn Abraham, one of the newest members of the Rotary Club of Ladner introduced himself to the club with his classification talk. Glyn’s family originates from South Wales where they were coal miners for generations.

His father came to Canada and joined the RCMP. He served in a variety of isolated detachments in the North West Territories and then in Ottawa. After leaving the RCMP the family moved to Montreal. Glyn attended George Williams University (now Concordia). He received a Bachelor of Commerce in 1976. He first worked for Ellis Chalmers in cost accounting and accounts payable. He moved to the wire rope industry as credit manager.

He worked part time for his future father-in-law painting the iron railings on Montréal’s unique front steps of older homes. He married Susan in 1971.  In 1977 he moved his family to Delta working for Robin Hood Multi Foods and Epco Industries. 

Glyn was a soccer coach as his two children joined various activities in the community. In 1985 he found himself unemployed. He started a painting business which he and his wife ran for the next 22 years. Susan died in 2010.
