Since 2011 Honour House has been a refuge, a “home away from home” for members of our Canadian Armed Forces, Veterans, Emergency Services Personnel and their families to stay, completely free of charge, when they travel to receive medical care and treatment in the Metro Vancouver area. These brave individuals, along with their families, sacrifice so much on a daily basis to protect our freedom and our everyday way of life. Honour House provides the opportunity to show them that their community cares and how much all that they do for us is appreciated. It costs $10,000 per year to provide each room at Honour House. To date, donations to Honour House have funded over 14,000 nights of accommodation for those needing this support with thanks to the more than 500 volunteers who make this service possible.

Honour House Executive Director Craig Longstaff and Assistant Executive Director Curt Appleby, a Ladner resident, spoke to Rotary Club of Ladner on March 19, 2024 about suffering from any form of serious illness being very stressful in anyone’s life. Add to that the additional impact of a day-to-day job involving some of the most intense and stressful situations imaginable for these service people and first responders, and then include a serious illness for them or a member of their family. When they have to receive treatment away from home and the support of their friends and family as they travel to an unfamiliar city for treatment, Honour House, in providing a free, safe and comfortable place for recovery to some of our bravest Canadians, "is the very least that we can do."

Honour House receives no direct funding and raises all of its operating costs through donations and fundraising. The house operates with only two full time and one part time staff. A board of directors and team of volunteers, many who have served their country themselves, maintain the facility.

Since October 2019 Honour House has been providing service at Honour Ranch 10 kilometres south of Ashcroft, BC. On 120 acres of rolling hills overlooking the South Thompson River, Honour Ranch is a tranquil retreat, a place of education and personal growth. Here, members of our Canadian Armed Forces, Veterans, Emergency Services Personnel, and their families can discover cutting-edge strategies in the treatment of operational stress injuries including anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The goal is to empower these heroes so they are better equipped to navigate the often debilitating emotional and physical stresses of selfless commitment to service.
