Message from Club President
The Rotary Club of Ladner started in 1957 for the purpose of doing charitable service locally and internationally. On the global scale we have been partnering with Rotary International and the Bill Gates Foundation to rid the world of polio. We are very close to complete success with over 94% of the world population polio free. In other parts of the world we have partnered with local Rotarians to sponsor orphanages in Chile and clean water projects in New Zealand. Locally we have sponsored many initiatives such as the Little House and Delta Hospice. In 2012 our Club has been instrumental in a campaign to rid the province’s coast of Spartina anglica or common cordgrass, a noxious weed that was originally planted to control soil erosion but now poses a danger to wetlands. We were recently recognized internationally for these efforts by Rotary International and we are now part of the BC Working Group set up to advance these efforts. Our Calendar Campaigns support our charitable giving and this year we are very proud to partner with the Delta Police Department to make this the most successful Rotary fundraiser yet.
Our Club’s work depends on committed like minded volunteers. We welcome new members who want to help make Ladner and our world beyond a better place to live. Please join us at our regular Tuesday luncheon meetings at the Delta Town and Country Inn and meet local Rotarians doing Service Beyond Self.
