Born in Vancouver and having started his working career at a downtown pen shop at age 16, Walter Neuman retired form his 42-year stretch with West Coast Reduction, in the plant and as truck driver, before joining the Rotary Club of Ladner in January. West Coast recycles many tonnes of protein by-product material every hour, picked up from food processing companies, turning it into finished products with a wide variety of uses, and keeping out of landfills, sewers and drains. Walter gave his "Classification" speech or a "getting to know you" presentation to Ladner Rotary members on April 14th.
Walter has been married for 39 years. His daughter, a former member of Vancouver Yaletown Rotary and now a nurse and Rotary member in Cranbrook encouraged him to join Rotary. His son is a longshoreman.
