Kerry-Lynne D. Findlay was first elected to the House of Commons in May 2011 as the Member of Parliament for Delta-Richmond East.
Kerry-Lynne was appointed Minister of National Revenue in July 2013. The CRA is one of the largest federal government departments. As Minister, she oversees: 51 Tax Services Offices and Tax across the country; 43,000 employees nationally; and a $4.3 billion budget. Under her guidance, the CRA has been active in the reduction of red tape for small business, and has undergone an attitudinal shift from an audit-focused organization to a partner in compliance.
Prior to being appointed Minister of National Revenue, Kerry-Lynne was Associate Minister of National Defence from February to July 2013 where she was responsible for overseeing military procurement, including delivery of the CH-147F Chinook helicopter, on time and within budget.
From May 2011 to February 2013, Kerry-Lynne also served as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Justice and Attorney General for Canada. There she was responsible for spearheading the passage of several justice reform bills through the House of Commons Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights.
As MP, Kerry-Lynne has worked cooperatively to secure funding for many infrastructure and community improvements in both Delta and Richmond.
Throughout her career, Kerry-Lynne has distinguished herself as a lawyer and as a community leader, achieving regional, provincial and national recognition as a passionate advocate and articulate debater. She has represented clients at every level of court including the Supreme Court of Canada, and been actively involved in the mediation of multi-party disputes in complex situations. Along the way she has mentored many junior men and women in the legal profession and worked for improvements in access to justice and court reform. Ms. Findlay is recognized as one of the most knowledgeable lawyers regarding aboriginal land and resource management issues, and as a sought after speaker on portfolio topics as well as legal and women's issues.
Ms. Findlay resides in Delta, BC with her husband Brent, and is the mother of four children.
