Quest for Rotary in service of the church

Retired Anglican Church Dean John Tyrell, of the Rotary Club of Westlock, Alberta, and wife Carol have lived many years in Canada's north, where Rotary does not exist, but they found a life of more adventure and sharp contrast during and between retirements.

John and Carol Tyrell went north to Watson Lake, Yukon Territory in 1991. Then they moved to Dawson City, Yukon Territory in 1997.

In 2005 John retired for the first time. He and Carol went to Sri Lanka as paramedic and nurse to help out after the Tsunami. Rotary is there because that is where our international president, Ravi Ravindran, comes from. Then they toured around the world on a heavy lift cargo ship for 142 days, stopping in 26 countries

John and Carol went to England to get warm, then to Heidelburg, Germany, over Christmas, then to Torrevieja on the Costa Blanca of Spain, and then Alhaurin el Grande inland from the Costa del Sol, where they were offered a five year position in Nicosia, Cyprus, as Dean of St. Paul’s Anglican Cathedral Nicosia Cyprus 2009 - 2014
