Report on club assembly

President Linda Cran held her first club assembly of the Rotary year on July 30. Each board member gave a brief report and answered questions from club members.
Tom Siba, Secretary: with the assistance of Mike Storey minutes of all club board meetings will continue to be made available on the ‘document’ section of the club website. Members must log into the site with their password to access the document section. All minutes since July 1 2010 are available.
Penny Offer, Director Club Administration: club speakers' programs coordinated by Peter Roaf continue to be outstanding. As Peter is president elect Linda Ottho and Patricia Sibley will take over programs. Low attendance of some members continues to be a concern. Members are reminded that 50% attendance is required. Attendance includes club meetings, other clubs, E-clubs, committee meetings and service projects. Diana Nimsick has contacted some members discuss their attendance. Penny will continue to keep members apprised of training opportunities such as RLI and district seminars.
Irene Forcier, Director Family of Rotary: continued to contact members with health or family health issues to express club's concerns. Plans to hold at least one monthly social event such as a ball game, Chinese New Year dinner or other events.
Chris Offer, Director Public Relations: The Optimist and Leader continue to give Rotary good local coverage. The website is our primary communications tool for members and non-members. Please visit www.RotaryLadner.org
Janice Dooks, Treasurer: invoices for $325 dues will be sent out soon. This includes RI, district and club dues. This does not include any contribution to The Rotary Foundation. Dues are only for administration. Janice is still working on transfer account signing authority to new directors.
Lynn Cameron, Director Membership: hopes to organize some type of event soon
Mel Baly, Director Projects and Grants: has formed a committee to review funding requests. Please review club funding policy at: http://portal.clubrunner.ca/603/SitePage/donation-policy
Projects being considered include:
- Christmas Dinner – Family and Peer Support Group
- Christmas Hamper
- World Help container
- Rotary Park upgrade or new park – meetings have been held with Delta Corp on potential park projects.
Leo Nimsick, Director Rotary Foundation: club has always done well. There was a dip last year. Encouraged everyone to make their donation soon. This can be done online at: www.Rotary.org/contribute or give a cheque to Leo.

Mike Storey reported that the Weekend and the family support picnic will be held Aug 17 – volunteers are needed. See Mike if you can volunteer to help.
Barry Irvine gave an update on the New Zealand grandchild exchange. There are 3 girls and one boy coming, host families are lined-up, everyone must have a police security check, dates are Nov 30 to Dec. 23
Roy Sakata reported that he has had several meetings and a walk along Boundary Bay with staff from Delta Corp regarding Spartina removal and will be organizing work parties in the near future.
