At the 2019 Rotary International Convention in Hamburg, then Rotary International President Barry Rassin presented Rotaract leader, Phoenix MacLaren, with the Rotary International Award of Honor for helping lead her District into increasing overall membership by 150%. Phoenix talks about Rotary on February 23, 2021, the 116th Anniversary of Rotary.
Phoenix MacLaren began her Rotary journey in 2014 when she attended a Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) retreat for young leaders. From there she became a charter member of the Rotaract Club of the Fraser Valley and then joined the board for RYLA North America, facilitating youth leadership camps, and becoming a District 5050 Rotaract Representative. Most recently Phoenix has joined the Board of Directors for the Rotary Foundation Canada, and has also become Chief of Staff for Big West Rotaract, which provides leadership training and education to students and young professionals in the Western Region of North America.

She serves on the Rotary International Rotaract Committee and is Assistant Rotary Coordinator for Zone 28, which includes our District 5040 and 20 other Districts across Canada. In District 5050, Phoenix serves on the board and is the Rotaract Chair and RYLA Chair. Within her own Rotaract club, the Rotaract Club of the Fraser Valley, Phoenix has held every executive position and is currently the club Secretary.
