Letter to Ladner Rotarian Patricio Navirez from President, Rotary Club Temuco Norte
Dear friend Patricio:
Knowing that you will soon return to Canada, I want to wish you a pleasant trip on behalf of all the members of our Rotary club Temuco Norte. We want to take this opportunity to ask you to be our spokesperson to express our affection and friendship to all the members of the Ladner Rotary Club, our sister club of that far away country of the north...............
Please let them know that all the help and collaboration received from them (the Ladner club), have contributed to the development and implementation of projects carried out by our club that have benefited our local community. Projects like the solving the problem of running water for the clinic of the Mapuche Community of Colpanao, and later on, solving the problem of lack of dental equipment for the same community by providing a complete dental unit. You also provided educational support to the Mapuche School Mañío Chico, their students are presently learning English, their native language Mapudungun, and Spanish, using the computers and White board, donated by the Ladner Rotary club, among others.
A point worth mentioning , is the idea that you shared with us regarding the selling of calendars. During his visit to Temuco Norte, in 2014, Arthur Birk made a presentation to the club, showing how the selling of calendars could help in the financing of some projects for the community. We have adapted the main idea to our local reality and that allowed us that this year we could present to the city of Temuco, a recreation center for physically and mentally challenged children. This was received by the Mayor of Temuco on February 24, 2015. The centre is being installed in one of the main parks of the city where many families go. We are planning to repeat this experience, so many children can Access this recreational areas.
Finally, I want to express our gratitude to you all, emphasizing that the relationship of collaboration, friendship and Rotarian brotherhood between our two clubs have produced very interesting results that we hope will continue in the future and may continue as they have until now, contributing to a Rotarian work for the benefit of those who need us.
