Stress released through deep breathing
Among working adults in Canada, 73% report some level of stress (General Social Survey, 2010). Stress and burnout can have a negative impact on physical, mental and emotional health. That impact can cause illnesses, allergies, autoimmune disorders, cancers, low energy and loss of productivity.
Holistic Empowerment Specialist, Tu Van Trieu, founder of Human Wellness, in New Westminster, describes our human body as a container which holds onto a lot of stress. When we connect with our body and learn how to release stress from it, we learn to heal ourselves physically, mentally, emotionally and socially because they are interconnected.
For the past five years Tu has been focusing on stress as the root cause of conflict. By addressing stress, she believes, workplace and interpersonal conflicts will be resolved. Tu's belief is based on more than 15 years of experience as practitioner, facilitator and coach in areas of conflict management, stress management, diversity and empowerment.
She holds a Master of Science in Conflict Resolution from Portland State University, a Bachelor of Arts from Simon Fraser University, is a registered professional counsellor and a registered yoga teacher. Outside of Canada, she has worked in Namibia, Spain, Thailand and the United States.
