Strong Towns is a nonprofit media advocacy organization that analyzes the failures of the post-war North American development pattern and gives the citizens of towns and cities the knowledge and tools to start making their communities better places to live and work. As every city, town, and neighborhood pursues growth, development, and prosperity Strong Towns recommends its approach.

Norm Van Eeden Petersman is the Director of Membership and Development at Strong Towns. He is a communicator for Strong Towns message and a community builder. He leads DelPOP, a land use reform and housing advocacy group in Delta, and is a leader of the Strong Towns Toastmasters Club. Norm has a Master of Divinity and a Bachelor in Political Studies. He spent 10 years pastoring churches in Canada as a preacher, teacher, and leader. He worked in communications for the second-largest city in British Columbia and carried out infrastructure-related stakeholder outreach for Canada's Minister of Health and Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario in Ottawa.

Strong Towns seeks to replace America’s post-war pattern of development, the Suburban Experiment, with a pattern of development that is financially strong and resilient. It advocates for cities of all sizes to be safe, livable, and inviting. It works to elevate local government to be the highest level of collaboration for people working together in a place, not merely the lowest level in a hierarchy of governments.

Strong Towns supports thousands of people across the United States and Canada who are advocating for a radically new way of thinking about the way we build our world.
