In a presentation to the RC of Ladner Jeremy Perry stressed the value of using Face Book and other social media to spread the good news story about Rotary and what the RC of Ladner is doing in the community.

On May 25th, Jeremy Perry from the Rotary Club of New Westminster spoke to the Rotary Club of Ladner on telling Rotary’s story with social media.

Jeremy stressed the benefits of ‘likes’ on Face Book.  He said that the RC of Ladner has a good Face Book page and is posting interesting stories. However, the club members are not clicking the like button or sharing the stories on their personal and business Facebook pages. The likes and shares are key to spreading news about Rotary.

Each like or share spreads the story to another 50 or even hundreds of people who are not Rotarians.

He talked about the benefits of Twitter and using tools such as Hoot Suite (a Vancouver company) or Tweet Deck to post stories to social media.
He emphasized that Face Book and other social media do not take a lot of time unless you allow the media to take over. Social media takes as much time as you want to put into using the media.

Jeremy encouraged the club members to promote Rotary with social media.
