Dr. Norman Wong gives his Classification speech as a new member, to tell Ladner Rotary members about his career and life. Norman graduated from the McGill University School of Medicine, in Montreal, and pursued a career in nephrology, focused on research on kidney disease. Eventually he became the leader of "Experimental Medicine" at UBC which, on his retirement 15 years ago, granted him Professor Emeritus of Medicine status.
With his Professor Emeritus statis he was able to continue to use UBC facilities and be involved in academic activities, and participate in formal events like convocation. He was glad to have spent 15 years of his retirement with his wife Katherine, who passed away recently. They went travelling and spent time with their grandchildren, watching them grow up
