Lara Victoria, Executive Director of the Delta Community Foundation – which the Rotary Club of Ladner founded in 1986 -- reported in presentation to Ladner Rotary on May 26, 2026, that the Foundation is expecting to make the initial distribution of roughly $300,000 from the estate of Doreen Gaul, a 101-year-old woman whose legacy gift is still being finalized pending tax clearance from Revenue Canada. This is an example of the value of estate planning and legacy giving and the Foundation’s careful stewardship of donations through a rigorous grants review process.

The Foundation offers several categories of giving, including donor-directed gifts, scholarships, and flexible emerging funds. Progress is being made towards the Foundation’s goal of reaching $5 million which can generate much more in service to the community where there is need. Overall, the presentation emphasized the value of local philanthropy, long-term community impact, and building a culture of giving for future generations.
