After speaking to the members of the Rotary Club of Ladner Viola Kiess received a surprise PHF recognition.

Viola Kiess was honoured by the Rotary Club of Ladner by being made a Paul Harris Fellow. One member of the club made the $1000 donation to The Rotary Foundation to honour Viola for her many years of work for the community, for her tireless dedication to assist people with metal challenges and for making Delta a better community.

PDG Leon Nimsick pinned Viola with PHF pin and President Ray Moschuk presented the PHF certificate. PDG Chris Offer spoke about Viola’s dedication and tireless work for the community.

Paul Harris Fellow recognition acknowledges "service above self" which that individual has offered to their community, their nation or indeed to the world. Paul Harris was the founder of Rotary and this award program was created to fund many Rotary Foundation programs.

Every Paul Harris Fellow receives a pin and a certificate when he or she becomes a Fellow. This identifies the Paul Harris Fellow as an advocate of the Foundation's goals of world peace and international understanding.

In 1957, the Rotary Foundation launched the Paul Harris Fellowship in memory of the founder as an expression of appreciation for those who have contributed to the Foundation's humanitarian and educational programs.

A contribution of US $1,000.00 is made to the Rotary Foundation in the name of each individual to be honored. After more than forty years, recognition as a Paul Harris Fellow remains a respected and prestigious honour for Rotarians and non-Rotarians alike.
