The club meeting of July 31 focused on the future of Rotary Park and other club opportunities.

President Ray Moschuk led a discussion on various ways the club can combine community service and enhance the club’s public image.

Rotary Park – the sign is looking tired and needs to be replaced or refreshed. The park is isolated and designated as a passive park.  The park is currently used primarily by Municipal Hall staff with limited use by the public due to its location.  Previously there was a 5 year plan to upgrade the area including construction of an amphitheatre in the area.  A major upgrade could involve the club in a six figure plus funding commitment but could be done over several years. Possibly the Rotary sign should be moved for more visibility. More study is required and several club members agreed to explore the options and report back to the club board and club membership with recommendations.

Memorial Park – the lacrosse box should be replace – there may be potential here for the club

Ladner Harbour Development – this is a future opportunity for the club we should stay tune and look how we could be involved.

Spartina – signs on Dike at 64th, 72nd and 104th – the club could but information signs up about spartina and the clubs involvement in the spartina eradication.  Education and public image – this received a positive reaction from the club.

The club board will consider all suggestions and make recommendations to the membership.
