Digital Billboards

Digital billboard advertising is one of the fastest growth advertising sectors while print, TV and radio media ad revenues are declining. There are very good reasons for the rapid growth of digital media advertising and messaging.
Our speaker on August 6th was Casey Jones, Territory Manager for Immediate Images. They operate the digital billboard next to the Town and Country.
Casey said that we use to stand in line at a bank and watch a TV with CNN or other all-news station. Today the bank has a set of screens running their own ads and often community events promotion. These screens are in all types of stores and fast food chains now. Research has shown that 3 screens work best to engage the people watching. Immediate Images has sites at many locations in Metro Vancouver and Victoria area.
There is a younger demographic that has grown up with digital screens and respond to them better than printed medium.
Using digital billboard advertising reduces costs and increases the timeliness of advertising for business. Changes can be almost instantaneous. Adjustments to messages and ad programs can be immediate. Gone is the need to prepare and print vinyl or paper faces, deliver them to a billboard site or fixed location, mount them to the structure and repeat the costly labour process to change ads around a market.
Digital gives the ability to instantly change ads, cycle messages or ads, include videos and also schedule multiple advertisers on one sign (screen).
Advertisers can now present and cycle ads by time of day for audience with local, regional or national promotions. These can also be seasonal and even tied to specific events. Digital billboards well placed outdoors offer the added benefit that traditional media cannot offer - a captive audience.
