Long-time Delta Chef Richard Downes of theTown & Country Restaurant passes away

A service was held for Chef of the Town & Country Restaurant, Richard Downes who passed away March 2, 2013. We thank Richard for making sure we were always fed well.

The celebration of his life was held at the Town & Country this past Saturday from 11am - 2pm. Family, friends, colleagues, employers, employees and others shared wonderful stories about Richard, his life, love of cooking, gardening, his aquarium, his family, his crazy swing playing golf and then his love of beer! His family gave touching stories of Richard in his younger days and his joy spending time with family and especially his grandchildren.

Our Rotary Club of Ladner enjoyed his wonderful meals for the past 18 years, with the soups and his various choices for our luncheon menus. Then there were some gastronomic delights for special events such as our club's 50th Anniversary. Others got to enjoy his talent for food when we attended other functions at the Town & Country such as Chamber of Commerce events, weddings, birthdays and other celebrations held there.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting a donation to the BC Cancer Foundation.
