March 16 Announcements

at the T&C noon Tuesdays.  Out of 45 members, we had 21 members attend lunch on March 9, 1 member is on a leave of absence, 1 member did a make up at Palm Springs Sunup Club.  If you can't make our meeting on Tues at noon, check out one of the other Rotary clubs and attend a meeting, then post your make up on the web (or email Lynn or Mike with date, time and location of make up)

Graham welcomed everyone with an Olympic joke about silver medals and coming second, you had to be there.

Guillermo passed around a roster and asked if everyone could update with their cell phone number and confirm all information is correct.

Three visitors including Paulette Tattersall, Kathleen Kinchursky, and Rotarian Jim Julius of Tsawwassen Point Roberts Rotary Club.

Art, Tom, Don and Jeff were the work party this previous weekend at the on going ECU Rotary project. When Tom showed up, Don remarked he was surprised that anyone showed up after last week's meeting when Don spoke at the club about the description of the work involved. Tom looked at Don and simply replied "I missed last week's meeting".  Don figures one more work party of approximately three hours starting at 9am on Friday. 

A very nice thank you card was received from Temuco Rotary club, they appreciate our concern.

Irene reports that plans are being finalized for Guess Who's Coming to Dinner and all those attending, will soon be advised where they will need to go.  There are four host homes. Irene had another email update and reports that all is well with our Rotary Ambassador "Jody Wilson". Mariah's family has taken him up Mt Manganui, he has visited many arts centres, spent time at the beaches.  They report that Jody is an incredible master of his art and is a fantastic choice as a representative of our club.  Jody is hitting it off with Maori artists and all is going great.

Email from Steve Strang: I have been attending the weekly meetings down here and are thoroughly enjoying the Rotary fellowship. Lots of Snowbirds! Have heard from my brother in Taronga, NZ and he has met Jodi and and confirms that he is a real hit down there. It's a great program, Irene. Tell Don B. that I would have com home to help with the Hospital Project but I failed basic shovel school. I will take some training and will be ready for future work when I get home mid-April. Say hi to all.

Denis reports it is Rotary Literacy month and don't forget to celebrate St Patricks Day.

There are no anniversaries this week and Ulf just celebrated a birthday milestone.
